On June 12, 2024, RWEA, together with RPIA and with the support of BCR, organized a new edition of the event dedicated to green financing – Connecting the Financing Dots: Toward a Sustainable Path – a key reference point for discussions on financial instruments that can accelerate the energy transition.

The event highlighted current opportunities and challenges in the renewables sector, at a time when Romania has access to over €15 billion through the Modernisation Fund, NRRP, Just Transition Fund, and the Sustainable Development Program.

Although the launch of the first CfD contract auctions has been postponed, the authorities remain committed to the 2024 timeline, while participants emphasized the need for a clearer and more transparent framework for managing EU funds.

It was also noted that many companies in the sector are bankable and have access to financing, with growing interest in PPA contracts. Romania is already among the most attractive renewable energy markets in Europe and has been included in the global RECAI Top 40.

Despite the progress made, stimulating domestic energy consumption remains essential, by supporting local industry – a key step in sustainably capitalizing on renewable potential.
